Hi. I'm Lucia. I'm running for San Rafael City Schools Board because I've witnessed first-hand the challenges facing families today as a mom and community advocate. 

 

I ask for your support to continue working as a public servant on behalf of families. I am a proud resident of San Rafael, where I live with my husband and daughter.  I’ve worked as an attorney and advocate, advancing social and economic justice issues.

I am the Director of a national collaborative committed to increasing the number of immigrants who become U.S Citizens and bolstering their civic engagement. Previously, I worked at Canal Alliance in San Rafael, strengthening relationships with local communities and leaders, and served as a Commissioner for First 5 Marin.  I hold a Master of Laws Degree from UC Hastings College of the Law and have years of experience overseeing programs and budgets and advocating for policies at local and national levels.

 

I am prepared to bring a diverse perspective and professional experience to fight for the best educational opportunities on behalf of the children of San Rafael. 

We are still recovering from the devastating impacts of the pandemic on public education, and we need strong leadership in public office.

I was appointed as a Trustee to ensure optimal outcomes for our students during challenging times. I currently serve as the Board’s Vice-President tackling equitable academic success, mental health, teacher retention, and infrastructure improvements. 

 

I believe all students should be able to reach their full potential. My record demonstrates my commitment to our schools and the families we serve.
